Renewable energy for displaced people

With Mastercard, Columbia University, and Smart Communities Coalition (SCC), we evaluated distributed energy projects in refugee camps in East Africa, including the deployment of solar ovens and off-grid renewable systems. We conducted assessments of existing initiatives, identified financing options for scale, and developed recommendations to strengthen both energy access and community resilience. The work combined technical evaluation with policy design to help humanitarian responses move from short-term fixes to durable, scalable solutions.
